Deadlines! So many things to complete this week- SITs project, slides for presentation next week! My parents have gone to China for a week and that means I have to look after the dogs on my own for the next week: Prepare their food, walk them and clean up after them. Actually I dun mind it; I walk them everyday anyway. But Cal and I will have to go out for dinner everyday since my mum is not around to cook for us.

Nov is approaching! I have 3 weddings to attend... my colleagues and cousin's .sigh going to be $$$less soon. but I should be happy for them! more happy married people!

Last weekend, I realised that I love my CaL CaL immensely. He is really good to me: tolerant of my smelly farts, willing to go the extra mile to make my life comfortable and ever so faithful! You need to venture further from you home and open your eyes to the world to appreciate what you already have. After what I witnessed this week, I realise that hey Cal Cal is a superb hubby!!! I love you CaL!

The 'O' level English papers today seem rather manageable! I hope my pupils will do well!!

Spoiler Ahead. Skip it if you intend to watch 'Stardust'

Last night, I watched StarDust- a brilliant, funny fantasy movie about how an ordinary man goes about trying to obtain a fallen star in order to win the hand of the girl he loves. He undergoes a lot of adventures. Actually the fallen star is a lady, the gorgeous Claire Danes with beautiful blond hair. He has to drag the reluctant star back to his love, Victoria, played by Sienna Miller. However, a fallen star is very valuable and she is desired by everyone in fairy land as the heart of a star can make one immortal, so a wicked witch and a mean prince are hunting for the star as well.

The movie is really sweet and interesting with many unexpected twist and turns. Look out for Michelle Pieffer as the wicked witch and Robert De Niro as a benevolent pirate! hahah

I want Nitendo Wi!!!! I tried it and it seems very fun! But it is rather ex... will need to consider carefully whether I should get it..

This week, my pupils have got post exam activities to keep them busy. I don't have to go to class so I busied myself with marking, Guides Initiative project and other admin stuff. I never seem to be able to finish my marking.. never endinge story :) I still have to work on the SIT project and a presentation at 'Sharing of Best Practices' workshop. Lots of work to do before I can enjoy my holidays.

A sad thing happened to me today. My alarm clock of 17 years have finally gone to clock heaven. Thus I had to get a new one but none can compare with my ex. sigh.. have to make do...

I have invigilation in Chong Boon Sec. every afternoon this week. BORING!!! really feel like dozing off so I had to resort to walking, walking and walking and scrutinising the candidates' faces. They say every face tells a story! so I am trying to figure out who they are, their background.. I am bored! I need some form of entertainment albeit pathetic! Luckily KP is with me.. at least we can yak during tea breaks :) and munch on biscuits from a vending machine! yeah!

My gosh!!! My House was nearly on fire! It was all my fault. I was too absent-minded! I wanted to boil water to cook my egg. Usually, I would wait for the water to boil before putting the egg into the pot but I threw the egg in and let the water boil. Then I went back to the bedroom and continued watching tv. When my hubby came back, we rushed over to my mum's place for dinner. After dinner, we went to walk the dogs. When we came back from our walk, we were outside my place and I found it very smoky! I suddenly remembered my egg and rushed into the house which was filled with smoke! I rushed to switch off the gas. The egg was no longer in the pot. It was splattered all over the place. I was horrified. The gas smell was so strong. Now I am sitting in the bedroom which still stinks of gas. I couldn't even switch on the air con! The gas stove was on since 7 pm till 9.30pm. Thank God! My house didn't catch fire!
So careless of me.

While walking my dog, bubbles, I didn't grip the leash tight and she ran off when she spotted a cat. I couldn't catch up with her. She was way too fast! I have the extended version and the mechanism is now slightly spoilt :( I only managed to catch up with her when she stood under the tree with the cat in the tree. I was so angry that I screamed at her incessantly but she was nonchalant! She even had the cheek to refuse to go with me. She was still staring at the cat which was in the tree! What a terrible day it was for me!

I am so proud of 4B! Yes 4B! Today, they were supposed to come back to school for post 'N' level revision and most of them came back. I was so happy to see so many of them. I truly hope they will do exceedingly well for the 'N' levels exams.

Everyone was happy to see them back. In fact some of the teachers were surprised that so many of them came back. I was a little surprised too and super happy that my class did not let me down!

Give it up for Sec 4B... hip hip hoOORAAAY!!!!

Last Sunday my hubby and I went to Vivo City. While driving there, we met a lousy driver. I was on the first lane and this driver just slowly filtered into my turn. I had to brake hard in order for him to enter the lane, so I flashed him(with hy headlights). He had the cheek to show me a rude sign... not the finger but a raised hand. How dare he! We found his audacity so absurd that the minute we saw his sign, we burst out laughing.

Then I showed him the thumbs down sign, laughing gleefully 'bad driver bad driver'. He must have seen everything via his rearview mirror, because once I had the chance to overtake him, I turned to have a better look at the loser and he didn't even dare to look at me. hahahah
so funny. I think he must be totally embarrassed especially being told by a FEMALE driver that he is lousy. Guys with huge egos can't take such treatment. We forgave him because he gave us a good laugh!

Farewell assmebly was on Thur. I have been wanting to blog about it but I just didn't have the time to do it. Anyway, it was an emotional day for many as we sat in the hall reminiscing and recalling all the fond memories. I am sure the pupils must have felt berry touched by what they saw. I know I did especially during the video presentation. KP who sat beside me said," Hey janice start already" lol.... start to cry was what she meant. I couldn't help it! Will miss 43 and all my graduating Guides.

Actually before the assembly, I already cried. My guides, anna, aurina and cheryl came in the morning and presented me with cards and gifts. When I read the cards, I cried. I was so touched. Anna, I have faith in you! remember what I told you ! You are a superb Patrol Leader, totally dedicated and committed! Aurina- you are the best leader that one can ever have ( Inspiring, Kind and enthusiastic) Cherly- I will remember you for your generosity, sense of humour and fearlessness. I will really misss them. They were superb- served with all their hearts!

Then during the red carpet walk at the end of the assembly, I teared a little especially when I got to hug some of the pupils and when I saw them cry. I was fighting to hold back my tears so hard. Some of my pupils gave me cards. I was moved to tears again especially when I read Samuel's card when he told me how I have motivated him to improve his English! His heartfelt words really struck a deep chord in me! I will miss him. He was one of my favourite people in 43 too! Utterly inspiring transformation.

Goodbye 43,Aurina, Anna, Xin Yee, Cheryl, Angie, and Hui Xian. I hope I have trained you well. Now you graduate as Jediknights( in my world), ready to take on the big 'Os'. Have no fear for you have immense power inside of you! May the Force be with you!!!!

A Mild Mannered Man...

A mild-mannered man was tired of being bossed around by his wife so he went to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist said he needed to build his self-esteem, and so gave him a book on assertiveness, which he read on the way home.

He had finished the book by the time he reached his house. The man stormed into the house and walked up to his wife.

Pointing a finger in her face, he said, "From now on, I want you to know that I am the man of this house, and my word is law! I want you to prepare me a gourmet meal tonight, and when I'm finished eating my meal, I expect a sumptuous dessert afterward. Then, after dinner, you're going to draw me my bath so I can relax. And when I'm finished with my bath, guess who's going to dress me and comb my hair?"

"The funeral director," said his wife.

A Smart Woman.. hahaha. and a Stooopid Man

A woman and a man are involved in a car accident...

Both of their cars are totally demolished but amazingly neither of them are hurt.

After they crawl out of their cars, the woman says, "So you're a man, that's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but fortunately we are unhurt...

This must be a sign from God that we should meet and be friends and live together in peace for the rest of our days."

Flattered, the man replied, "Oh yes, I agree with you completely!"

This must be a sign from God!" The woman continued, "And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break...

Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune."

Then she hands the bottle to the man. The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman. The woman takes the bottle, immediately puts the cap back on, and hands it back to the man.

The man asks, "Aren't you having any?"

The woman replies, "No. I think I'll just wait for the police..."

Today at 1.00pm, I conducted my last lesson with 43. I was really quite depressed. I love that class of endearing, diligent and enthusiastic pupils who ware like sponges, ever ready to soak up knowledge,learn and enquire. I felt really sad. I will miss them very much. I had so much to say to them, but when the time came, my mouth was dry. I didn't say what I had prepared to say. I just couldn't. I was too emotional and I knew if I were to say it, I might cry. Thus, I have decided to tell them through my blog. smart right! hehehe.. Well here goes...

Here's my dedication to 43
43, You must strive for the best for the 'O' level exam. You may get disheartened at times but you must never look back. Look forward and move on. Persevere and never take your eyes off your goals. Remember 'Quitters never win and winners never quit!' You can do it! Believe in yourself for I have faith in you! Dream big! Run the race with fire and fervour! We are all behind you, cheering you on! I will definitely miss all of you for I have watched you grow and mature. I will miss sharing stories with you, joking and laughing with you and sometimes at you(heheh) and teaching you! I will miss the boys and their cheekiness and sometimes gentlemanliness, the girls for their sweetness and kind consideration for everyone they meet. 43, you are indeed a beautiful and adorable class and I wish you the best! Honestly... If I can do it again, I will still want to be your English Teacher. I thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful class. I dun think I will ever get the chance to teach such a perfect class ever again. Take care and all the best!

On Saturday afternoon, I watched Kumar the Queen at the Esplanade. He was hilarious! He cracked a lot of funny, somewhat perverse and crass jokes ( Can't repeat some of the jokes here.. too RA) but we enjoyed ourselves nonethless. Kumar proclaimed himself to be the queen of Singapore but grew tired of living in Singapore, so he 'travelled' to Thailand, China, India, US, UK where he made fun of the cultures and cracked more jokes while trying to be the new queen in each country. Then, in the evening, we watched 'Balls of Fury'. IT is a must watch. It is really very funny and Maggi Qi is so sexy! Saturday was great! Laughed so much.. Feel so relaxed after a week's of marking!

I woke up at 3am to send my Aunt Jessie to the airport. She was going back to the States. When I got home, it was already 5.30am. Then Cal and I slept all the way to 1pm. When we woke up, we were groggy! It was like we had a hangover. We then went to Orchard to collect my dad's phone. We then shopped a little. I didn't buy anything this weekend and I am happy. I am broke! So I am happy that there's nothing nice for me to buy;can save some money. :)

I got home and walked the dogs and marked a little. Then we went out for dinner at 10.00 pm. We had a late lunch at Fish N Co.

I finally coloured my hair. You know the most exciting part of getting your hair dyed professionally is when they unveil the colour to you! You sit in the chair and wait patiently while they apply the dye and wrap you hair in aluminium foil(1 hr) then they steam your hair. Finally they tell you that they can wash off your dye and you are bubbling with excitement. I know I was. I can't wait to see my new colour. Would it be nice? Would it be worth the money spent? Would I look good in the new colour?.. so many questions.. just have to wait till they remove all the folded foil and wash your hair once again.. Then you rush to the mirror but wait.. you can't really see the colour yet because your hair is wet.. Then they start to blow dry and slowly but surely, your new hair colour is unveiled! And yes I love it.. on the day itself, I didn't quite like it because I thought my hair looked really dry. But today after I washed it and treated it with tons of conditioner and leave-in conditioner, it is starting to look mighty fine. I love it! Finally, the hair colour is obvious! In the past,nobody realised that I have coloured my hair beciause the colour was never obvious! But this time round, it is really quite obvious! It's brown!!!!

Everybody complimented me today(Thurs). so shy..*blush* I think I must look horrible on usual days. hahah! It is quite embarrassing when almost everyone comes up to me and say 'hey Janice you look nice today'. Actually,I merely wore a nicer top and a pair of earrings. Mrs Ong and Miss NG have been cajoling me to dress up more for work. I wish I could but I am too lazy to do anything in the morning like apply make up. I rather sleep a little more. This morning, I woke up a little earlier, so I had a little more time to decide on what I would wear to work. Anyway.. thanks everybody! You were really kind!

However, come weekends I would really dress to the nines.. like apply make up, wear nice outfits and even perfume.People dun recognise me when I dress up. They are like flabbergasted. Where's the aunty we see on weekday. But I get a kick seeing their reactions!
I am an extremist. My hubby also noticed this trait in me. It is always polar ends for me. I can never take anything in between. I can look all glam or totally bo chap! I can be really funny and comical at times but at some other occasions I can be really shy and tongue-tied. I am either very hot or very cold! I am either screaming ' I am very hungry' or 'I am very full' haha

Anyway, I am excited. Tomorrow I am going to colour my hair but I have not decided on the colour.. It has to be either brown or red. I prefer red as I have never coloured my hair red before but I am afraid I would look like an ah lian. No way am I going to be ah lian! I guess I would have to seek the hairstylist's advice.

I am so upset! I just received a traffic fine. Apparently, I ran a traffic light and is fined $200 and slapped with 12 demerit points. But the problem is I have no recollection of ever doing something like that. Furthermore, it is stated that the vehicle I was driving was a station wagon. I dun drive a station wagon! I am going to contest the fine. But that means I have to make a trip down to the traffic police office. So troublesome! :(

Actually I was in a joyous mood today. No more PMS for me! Yippee.. was dancing and talking crap with hubby while walking dogs but I received this dreaded news after opening the letter box.

School was fine but invigilation was utterly BORING. I couldn't do anything but just stare at the students who were busy scribbling down their answers. I walked around to stay awake, did some inconspicuous mini exercises hehee.. But I was really bored especially when I had a 1.5 hr shift in 31. The class was well-behaved and they look rather diligent.

But to my marking now.. :( I have 2 sets of 3NT and 5 sets of 3E summary marking!!! I will work on 3NT papers first before tackling the 3E papers.

This is a bad week for me. I am ultra busy.I have a lot of dealines to meet: the guides initiative project, tons of marking, exam marking and portfolio grading... and I am experiencing ultra bad PMS! I am grouchy, testy and itching for a fight so steer clear!! Red alert.. Active volcano in sight!

Also, Jobi my oldest dog is sick. He is suffering from a serious case of skin allergy. He gets it very frequently but it has been awhile since his last attack. But recently, his skin is very bad again- covered with itchy, red sores which causes him to chew and that aggravates the wounds.. these are called hot spots. I brought him over more often to my place so that I can monitor him and apply mediciine for him. I must constantly keep a lookout for him just in case he chews his skin bloody again. Last night, I didn't sleep well. I had to woke up many times to spray the skin relief for him so that he will not bite so much.. Really can't blame him. It must be really itchy. I know he hates the spray but I have no choice. Anyway, I know he still loves me because although he will run away from me when I am applying the spray for him, he will walk one round and still come and sit by me again.. so comforting to know that I am loved.

Anyway, I am home early today. I need to start marking the exam papers. I still have my Sec 43 scripts to worry about but I guess I have to shelf them first.
