Today I woke up late! I left my HP in the car the night before so I did not have my second alarm clock around. I need at least 2 alarm clocks. Rushed like crazy.. To make matters worse, I used a brush instead of my comb and my hair got entwined in it.. I couldn't free myself from the evil grasp of the brush and I had to resort to cutting my hair.. nearly 3 inches of it..dropped to the floor. I cried in dismay.. so upsetting! Now my beautiful, soft ,rebonded hair is not nice anymore.. boo hoooo!!!

I reached school at 7.22am. made it just in time. I went up to the classroom. To my dismay, not everyone was around and I was upset. I am stickler for pupils' attendance and punctuality and I was disappointed that they did not even turn up for T Day. Apparently, later I learnt that a lot of them were late. :(.. in the past, all of my pupils will turn up for T day.. at least they have some form of respect for their teachers...

And.. one of my pupils had to make me even more upset.. early in the morning had to show me bad attitude .. dun want to elaborate on his act but it really made my blood boil. I lost it.. I didn't mean to but I was really irate! I screamed my head off and rushed off to the staffroom. I had to. I had to seek refuge in the cool confines of the staffroom.

I ran to the toilet and locked myself in there for 5 min. I told myself to cool down and sometimes it is not worth it to get ourselves so worked up.. But I was upset.. It is Teachers' Day.. I dun expect gifts but I expect some basic courtesy and respect especially when I have done so much for the class. Disappointment.. anger.... and sadness.. ..welled up in me.

When I calmed myself down somewhat, I went back to my seat. I learnt from Kp and Lewin that the gals in my class were truly apologetic and wanted to see me, but I couldn't face them yet.. I was not angry with them of course but I was a tad embarrassed for losing my cool... Later, the boy smsed me and was realy sincere about it. I smsed him back. I may get angry fast but I dun stay angry for long.

Later, in the day however, I was very touched by the cards(I love receiving cards more than anything else and I keep all of them) I have received especially from this ex-pupil, Willis.. it brought tears to my eyes after reading it. I read it and re- read it again.. I didn't expect it from him.. he was a very quiet boy who hardly spoke to me when he was in school but now his words really moved me.. He told me that I have spurred him on to believe in himself.. I didn't know that I had left a mark in his life. I was deeply touched.

I was also happy to receive gifts ( cookies, softtoy) from some of the gals in my class.. so sweet.. I didn't expect it because I know they were very busy with their prelims.. Really appreciate their thougthful gestures. Thanks Darren for being the first person to wish me Happy T Day! and 43 really surprised me when they presented all the teachers who taught them with MEDALS. so creative.. again I was very touched.. Their form teacher cried when they presented her with the gifts and I teared a little.. so much crying for one day...

I will miss 43 immensely when they go.. I truly, deeply, madly enjoy teaching them...

The best part of T day was that all my beautiful ex pupils came back and visited me! I was very moved! Hey.. I must have done something right! I really missed them. They were such good kids.. pupils from 4D(2006), 42(2006), 5A(2006), Band 1 (2005) and last but not the least 41(2004) My form class 41 (2004)always comes back without fail for T day! I am so proud of them.. of what they have become.... some in NS, some in the uni and poly...When I see them, I think of all the happy memories we once shared. Cool! 42 was also a naughty class but I love them nonetheless.. I still remember all the sweet things they have done for me.. I still have the gargantuan pooh bear and the 'I love Jedichung' pictures... They were always so appreciative and sweet. 5A was my favourite.. I taught them for 3 years and I have great rapport with a lot of them in the class.. I remember the times when we would crack jokes,swop gossip about who is dating who but what i like most about them is their child-likeness and willingness to work hard. They were a bunch of playful yet diligent pupils.. I will never forget pupils like Kian Teck, Vicki, Jun Hui, Choon Song, Renee, Kat... They were really attentive in class.. ask a lot of questions and were so passionate about learning.I have never met students like them before.. Of course.. I can't forget Katrine, Eloys, Cheryl, Samantha and Jaselin and their playful antics... how they used to crack me up... I also remember Lebin, Chin Jie, Wei lie and Benson and how they helped me in my doggy rescue work.. how we put up the poor pup at eloy's place....

Time flies... I am already 30.. When I first joined teaching, I was 23.. young, innocent and SLIM!!!! Looking back, I didn't change much. I still believe in touching lives and changing them. I really like being a teacher... helping kids see the importance of a good education, motivating them to do good.. I wish all my pupils be it current or ex all ze best in all their endeavours. Thank you for making my T day memorable...

The English prelim results are atrocious! Imagine I have only 13 passes from a class of 39! This is terrible news. 4B .. it is time to seriously start studying and practising. The paper wasn't tough. Why are there so many failures? All of you must pass English in order to be promoted. I dread to see the N results when they are released. For the first time in AMKSS history, we may not get 100% passes for English. This wil be very sad because then all your hard work for the other subjects will go down the DRAIN! Get off your lazy butts. Quit being complacent! You will not be able to clear your exams if you dun get serious and work on your attitude. You can do anything if you set your heart on it. Perservere and never give up on anything.

I am so sad to see that there are so many failures.. honestly.. you know I dun want anythingfor Teachers' Day--- just your earnest promise that you will do your best! Doing your best would mean a few things:

a time-table where you set aside a lot of time revising for the imminent exams
less computer time... more revision..
less distractions like TV, GF,BF,PSP or computer games

Promise me that You will be the best you can ever be! You must!

WOMAD was a facinating, multi-sensorial event. There were so many things to see, experiecne and try out. I too ate quite a bit.. greedy greedy.. there were so much food on sale from different countries.. I completely forgot that I was on a diet! hehehAalso in this event 'Taste the World' , artistes will demonstrate how a certain dish is prepared and will dish out the yummy foodie for their audience.. The meat stew was simply divine.. hhmm..

Anyway, I watched a couple of performances , attended a guitar workshop with my hubby. He was so attentive but I was busy playing with the games in my HP. Some of the performances were not my cup of tea-too weird and too chim for me to understand.

We stayed till 12.30am.. watch a band- Asian Duo foundation who was very energetic and exciting to watch. They had boundless energy and a lot of people got up and dance. As for me, I just merely shake shake here a little. Then, I got tired and lay on the mat that we had spread on the floor and tapped my feet to the pulsating beat.

The pictures I took were not very clear but I wil post them anyway later.

I watched Hairspray in the weekend too.. My weekends are usually filled with activities. They keep me sane.. I need some form of relaxation after a week of hard work, so usually I totally forget work unless I need to complete something urgently.

Back to Hairspray, it was good fun.. John Travolta is hilarious as an 'aunty' . so cute and funny. and the music in Hairspray is nice!

Bad news!!! I hate ticks!!!!Those bloody suckers. They bite my darlings and never relent. I am going to exterminate them once and for all.. It is total ANNIHILATION! I have applied Accurate leave -on for my darlings.. and hopefully the ticks will be killed. Anyway, I am going to kiasu.. will spray tick solution on them too.

Yesterday when I was on the way to the gym in Heartland mall( I have 14 more sessions to go and my package expires in Sept.. must keep going...), I saw this young boy of about 14 to 16 years of age. Guess what he was doing? He was manning a makeshift stall and he was selling pirated VCDs. The shocking thing was that he was quite calm and collected and was busy playing with his PSB. Doesn't he know that what he was doing was illegal? Yet, he seemed so indifferent; it is as if he is selling something legitimate! He doesn't seem nervous or uneasy! What is the world becoming? I can't imagine how bleak his life would be if he were caught by the police? He would definitely be sentenced to a juvenile court. Wouldn't his life be abysmal? I feel sorry for him but I chose not to do anything... I also dunno why.. maybe I am in a hurry and also I have got my own set of problems.. why be so meddlesome?

Anyway after my aerobic class, I went by the stall again and I saw this lady who was working in a stall nearby nagging at him.. .telling him that he should be studying.. apparently he is a high school dropout! SAd Sad SAd...

Tonight I am going to WOMAD.. can't wait!!!

I am so happy. I managed to leave school early at 3pm. headed for Hougang Mall. Went to collect my WOMAD tickets for tomorrow! I am so excited because I know it will be lots of fun. I went for it last year with my Guides. Found it really interesting and exciting. Besides Cal has agreed to go with me. I guess he is interested in the guitar workshop... used it to tempt him to go with me. hahah For those who dun know what I am talking about, WOMAD stands for World of Music, Art and Dance. It will go on for 3 days where artistes from different parts of the world gather and perform. However,we only got tickets for Fri since the guitar workshop will be on then. Those of you who are interested, you can go the sistic website to check it out. I promise photos and a write up of it after tomorrow.

Also, I bought tickets for 'Kumar the Queen'.. A stand-up comedy.. the man is so funny. I am sure to enjoy myself lots. There was also an Iora sale in the mall. I bought two skirts for $50. cheap cheap.. Then I went to SSC hougang to make payment for the aerobic classes in Oct. I even got a discount for it. Yippee. paid $58.50 for 12 sessions of aerobics! cool! am happy again! :)

Came home.now resting and typing this blog. going to nap soon. then go to the gym... then eat dinner and mark 43 mock paper. Dying to know how well they do...

Oh yah.. forgot to mention..My lesson observation with Mdm Tong was great!33 was so enthusiastic and well-behaved. Am proud of them. I would need to meet up with her soon to get the details.

I am so tired. I have so much to mark. It will be much worse next week when an avalanche of exam papers hit me! My class is sitting for their prelims. Hopefully, they will do well and not disappoint me. I know some of them will not return next year if they dun pull up their socks but they dun seem to care. This is so sad. Hopefully, they will prove me wrong!

Tomorrow I have a lesson observation with Mdm Tong. I am prepared but I am still a tad jittery. Nonethless, I have done my best and I hope the class will cooperate.

I am so angry with both Darrens! Just when I feel that DA is doing quite well, he goes and does something stupid and silly. Why skip an exam? Where is his sense of responsibility? My constant refrain of 'Be responsible and do what is right even when no one is watching you' have fallen on deaf ears. DS.. I am worried. he is totally nonchalant about his studies. I hope he proves me wrong man..

I read Eunice's blog and realised that the class has been giving Mr Liu a lot of trouble. This is so sad. Mr Liu likes them. He even volunteered to be their form teacher another year; yet they dun appreciate him. I am pleased with Eunice. She seems sensible and mature.

Today I am a little melancholic... maybe because I am tired and feeling dejected. I think I would feel much worse when I see 4B result slips. Hopefully.... I would be proven wrong.

Hope Hope Hope... all I can do is HOPE... I have nagged, scolded and encouraged... What else do they expect from me!!!!

I went to the gym with hubby yesterday.. first time at SSC gym hougang.. It was packed but I managed to get a decent workout. I was pleased that the entrace fee was so cheap- $2.50. There were even toilets in the gym. I shall not renew my gym membership with Amore ( no toilets in gym). they are charging way too much.. When I got home, I was so inspired that I even signed up for the aerobic sessions -$65 for 12 session at SSC. I pay close to $200 for that in Amore.. No more Amore for me anymore.

Besides, I enjoy working out with Cal. It was fun teasing and spurring each other on.

Nothing much happened in school today. I was very happy with the slides created by 33.. they are a bunch of creative people.. Really impressed with their work. I was glad that I managed to cover two situational text types with 43 today and they were rather attentive except for some pupils. However, they quickly kept quiet after some gentle tssskk and reminders. I love that class. will really miss them when they graduate. I have never seen such a diligent and motivated class and they are just so SWEET!

Later, I am going to do some marking and then head for dinner with some pals.I am looking forward to it.. Jap buffet... yummy..

I went shopping just now. Bought a new pair of shoes, 2 gorgeous bags and some clothing. Going to be broke for awhile. I have already exceeded my clothing budget for this month but I just can't resist those pretty things.

I also washed my filthy car today.. finally..

Tomorrow I must EXERCISE! I hope to lose 6 kg by October.. I went to NTUC today and bought lots of vegetables and fruits.. Hopefully I can stick to my diet.

GWEN STEFANI ROCKS!!!!!!
I simply love Gwen Stefani! Both her albums ‘Love. Angel. Music. Baby’ and ‘The Sweet Escape’ contain such cool tracks! Simply the best!

Thus when I learnt that Gwen would be visiting Singapore and staging a concert, I was so excited and thrilled. My hubby readily agreed to go with me as he is also a fan of her music.

14 Aug… I watch the clock tick slowly.. 5.30pm.. Contact time has not ended and we are behind schedule. Frown! We proceeded grudgingly to the com lab for a hands-on session.. 6.30pm . I check with Komi whether I can make a move first. I have a concert to attend. She gave the green light and I drove like a formula one race car driver home.

I got dressed and rushed to the Singapore Indoor stadium. To my chagrin, it was difficult to find a parking lot. I had to park somewhere near the defunct National Stadium.

8.15pm. Managed to get into the concert venue. I was utterly famished but I was also very excited… Told hubby to buy some food while I went to the ladies. My gosh.. the food was exorbitant.. $6 for a hotdog and $1.50 for mineral water in a CUP! No choice… tum tum growling.. no food how to scream and dance .. hahaha

8.30pm sat down at my seat which was not as bad as I thought it would be.- middle of the arena. Waved at my sis and Marc who were one block away from us.
8.45 pm.. the lights were off the audience went berserk…. Including me…

Then the Brilliant, Beautiful and Bubbly Gwen bounded up onto the stage. She looked fantastic! She started with her hit song ‘The Sweet Escape’. Her dancers were groovy. And cute

Throughout the concert, she was simply YUMMY. She was charming and friendly. No doubt. She charmed her already mesmerised audience with constant shouts like ‘Hey Singapore’… ‘You look so beautiful’ When the audience got tired and sat down, she screamed, “Siiiingggappporre I wana see you standdddinngg.” That really got everyone on our feet. She is really humble and friendly. She bantered with the audience constantly. Indeed she is an ORANGE COUNTRY gal who sang about HER WONDERFUL LIFE.

I could not stop my dancing feet especially when she sang HOLLERBACK GIRL, WIND IT UP and RICH GIRL FEAT EVE. She sang my favourite 4 IN THE MORNING which was so poignant and sweet. What really captivated us was when she sang COOL.. She dashed down from the stage and ran straight through the audience in the front row to a platform in the middle of the arena. Then she flew into the crowd and mingled with the audience.. SO COOOLLL. I was screaming, “Gwen this way! Come here” but she went to the other side. Nevertheless.. I loved it ! It was the song COOL that made me purchase her album and I have never looked back. I was smitten.

The night ended too soon for my liking at 10.15pm. I wanted more. I didn’t want her to stop singing. I really enjoyed myself. I danced and sang along to all her songs.. I so know her songs. Hehehe.

What a night it was for me! Now when listen to her songs, I will be able to reminisce about this night.

Sigh.. woke up this morning wishing that I could stay in bed forever.. hehe Anyway I am a little sleepy. slept late last night..can't sleep. slept too much the past few days.

Today everything seems to fly by so quickly.. It was really hot too. The pupils were drowsy and so was I. However, lessons must still go on.. Luckily I didn't have to do much 'teaching' because my stooopid microphone has gone bonkers... Sometimes it will work perfectly fine and sometimes it will go dead... I can't risk losing my voice.. praying hard that the ali baba microphone seller will be around tom . his shop is always closed.

Good news! Tomorrow I am going to attend Gwen Stefani's concert. This is so exciting.. imagine hearing her live on stage... Wind it up gal!!!!

I went fishing with some of my pals yesterday It was super cool and fun. We joked and laughed like crazy. But the four of us didn't catch anything. So disappointing.. We had fun nonethless. My another friend, Emi was a born fisherman.. sorry fisherwoman. She caught 3 fishes!!
I caught a silly puffer fish which puffed itself up because it thought we had wanted to eat it. It looked so funny.When we threw it back into the water, it just landed with a 'thud' and remained afloat for a while before it turned over and swam away. Rather amazing. . check out its pictures below.
I didn't want a tan so I applied lots of sun block and hid in the shade whenever I could. Stooppid hubby of mine caught 5 fishes and he is gloating .. big deal .. those were tiny fishes anyway!!!

Today in the afternoon, I went to Nike warehouse sale. Wow Wee.. There were so many things to buy and at great prices. I have always wanted this particular nike bag.. saw it in a departmental store two days ago and it costs $99..Found it too expensive... but today I saw it at the warehouse sale. It was going for $49.90. I was so happyyy!!! What a bargain!!! I couldn't resist.... I bought another cool, big bag... Cheap Cheap!!

We have finally bought our new water feature and another plant. All my plants have gone to plant heaven and hopefully this new plant will SURVIVE! Pray hard! Yesterday I had a great time watching RUSH hour 3. It was hilarious! Chris Tucker is such a motor mouth. His jokes come fast and hard.

I am pretty new at this but I thought it would be kind of fun to do this. It is quite different from what I used to the pen and paper format. The cool thing is that I can stop keeping my voluminous journals and do everything online.
