GWEN STEFANI ROCKS!!!!!!
I simply love Gwen Stefani! Both her albums ‘Love. Angel. Music. Baby’ and ‘The Sweet Escape’ contain such cool tracks! Simply the best!
Thus when I learnt that Gwen would be visiting Singapore and staging a concert, I was so excited and thrilled. My hubby readily agreed to go with me as he is also a fan of her music.
14 Aug… I watch the clock tick slowly.. 5.30pm.. Contact time has not ended and we are behind schedule. Frown! We proceeded grudgingly to the com lab for a hands-on session.. 6.30pm . I check with Komi whether I can make a move first. I have a concert to attend. She gave the green light and I drove like a formula one race car driver home.
I got dressed and rushed to the Singapore Indoor stadium. To my chagrin, it was difficult to find a parking lot. I had to park somewhere near the defunct National Stadium.
8.15pm. Managed to get into the concert venue. I was utterly famished but I was also very excited… Told hubby to buy some food while I went to the ladies. My gosh.. the food was exorbitant.. $6 for a hotdog and $1.50 for mineral water in a CUP! No choice… tum tum growling.. no food how to scream and dance .. hahaha
8.30pm sat down at my seat which was not as bad as I thought it would be.- middle of the arena. Waved at my sis and Marc who were one block away from us.
8.45 pm.. the lights were off the audience went berserk…. Including me…
Then the Brilliant, Beautiful and Bubbly Gwen bounded up onto the stage. She looked fantastic! She started with her hit song ‘The Sweet Escape’. Her dancers were groovy. And cute
Throughout the concert, she was simply YUMMY. She was charming and friendly. No doubt. She charmed her already mesmerised audience with constant shouts like ‘Hey Singapore’… ‘You look so beautiful’ When the audience got tired and sat down, she screamed, “Siiiingggappporre I wana see you standdddinngg.” That really got everyone on our feet. She is really humble and friendly. She bantered with the audience constantly. Indeed she is an ORANGE COUNTRY gal who sang about HER WONDERFUL LIFE.
I could not stop my dancing feet especially when she sang HOLLERBACK GIRL, WIND IT UP and RICH GIRL FEAT EVE. She sang my favourite 4 IN THE MORNING which was so poignant and sweet. What really captivated us was when she sang COOL.. She dashed down from the stage and ran straight through the audience in the front row to a platform in the middle of the arena. Then she flew into the crowd and mingled with the audience.. SO COOOLLL. I was screaming, “Gwen this way! Come here” but she went to the other side. Nevertheless.. I loved it ! It was the song COOL that made me purchase her album and I have never looked back. I was smitten.
The night ended too soon for my liking at 10.15pm. I wanted more. I didn’t want her to stop singing. I really enjoyed myself. I danced and sang along to all her songs.. I so know her songs. Hehehe.
What a night it was for me! Now when listen to her songs, I will be able to reminisce about this night.
